trucks, skid steers, and forklifts are generally used. Such places
are always prone to accidents due to negligence of workers and
sometimes machine operators. All heavy vehicles should have a backup

- Make sure that people working around a heavy machine must be aware that the operator is about to start working on the heavy machinery.
- Ensure that all the plugs and switches are in perfect order before starting any machinery especially if you are using something that requires electricity. If you are using an extension cord, the connections should not be loose.
- Always notice specific safety instructions that are printed on all heavy machinery before using them. These specific instructions can be extremely handy. So make sure that you take some time and read the details carefully before you start to operate the heavy machinery.
- Maintaining a safe distance from other machinery and people should always be in machine operator’s mind.
- Many heavy machines are made to be operated with personal protective equipment. When dealing with heavy tools and machinery, it's generally a good idea to wear a hard hat to protect your head. Always wear other proper safety equipment including goggles, hard hat, close-toed work boots, long pants and reflective vest.
- Don't operate heavy machinery while under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. Some medications also cause drowsiness or make you less alert than normal.
- Good communication is essential to warn crew members when machinery is in use and to safely negotiate a construction site. When using large or heavy machinery, it may be difficult for those around you to know what you're going to do. At such situations, communication works. Using a set of hand signals during high noise level would be helpful. All heavy vehicles should have a backup alarm that sounds whenever the vehicle is in reverse. Also, walkie-talkies can turn out to be a great communication tool.
